We all know the terrible feeling of ruining a killer pair of sunglasses by simply throwing them into our purse of the middle console of our car. That is why a case for your sunglasses is so essential! It will save your sunglasses from scratches and damage, ultimately saving you money not having to buy new sunglasses. The best part is it doesn’t have to be expensive, in fact, you can just use whatever scrap supplies you have around your house!
I completed this entire DIY using scrap supplies from other projects. For example, I took scrap fabric from my DIY boppy nursing pillow cover, leather cord from my DIY leather wrap choker, and wooden beads from my DIY yarn wall hanging.
- Sewing machine
- Hot glue gun
- Bobby pin
Like any sewing project, start by prewashing and pressing your fabric.
Start by laying your fabric right sides together and stitching around the rectangle usign 1/4″ seam allowances leaving a 2″-3″ opening.
Flip the fabric rightside out through the opening, fold in the opening, and press.
Fold over the top of the fabric about 1/2″ creating the pocket for the leather cording and sew right on the edge.
Thread the leather cord onto a bobby pin and pull it through the pocket.
Fold right sides together and sew using 1/4″ around the bottom and open side until just before the fold over.
Finally, thread on your wooden beads adding a dab of hot glue at the end of the last larger bead to keep it in place at the end of the cord.
No more scratched and damaged sunglasses means keeping more money in your pockets which is a major win! What can you make with your scrap supplies? [themify_icon icon=”fa-heart-o” link=”http://”] Cassie Jean
